Orvieto

We met up for lunch here in Orvieto today with John, Katherine, Lee and Mary from Martinborough.

Orvieto is a small town perched on a rock cliff in Umbria. Orvieto Cathedral, dating from 1290, is huge, especially considering the size of the town, and has a spectacular mosaic facade. This morning we visited the Duomo and Chapel.

This evening before dinner we wandered around the town and visited the oldest church in Orvieto, San Giovenale, built in 1003.

Chicken, rabbit and salted cod for dinner.
