Anghiari, and Laterina for dinner

We went to Anghiari for lunch. The town is famous for the Battle of Anghiari between Florence and Milan so I ordered the Battle of Anghiari pizza. Only while I was waiting did we realise that the battle took place on 29 June 1440, so we were there 577 years later to the day. The battle inspired a fresco by Leonardo da Vinci which has since gone missing although a sketch of it by Peter Paul Rubens is still in existence.

Then for dinner tonight the 18 of us remaining (Malcolm and Raylene left for London today) went to dinner at Cafe Michelangelo in Laterina. It has become a Micro Bar away from home and a fitting place for our final group dinner. John and Katherine leave tomorrow.

Katherine and Pennie surprised us all with a performance of a song they had written for us and later we had an encore back at the villa. But before that we sang a waiata to Ricardo and Rita at the café.
