Noto and Modica

Today we drove from Syracuse to Ragusa via Noto and Modica. The 1693 earthquake severely damaged much of this part of Sicily. Noto and Modica were rebuilt in the lavish Baroque style and are both UNESCO listed hilltop towns.

Arrived in Ragusa late afternoon. We'll explore it tomorrow but the old part of the city that we are staying in looked interesting as we wandered out to dinner,  antipasti tipici and saltimbocca, and then a walk home in the dark.
