From Ragusa to Trapani via the Valley of the Temples

Today we drove across most of Sicily to get from Ragusa to Trapani. The undoubted highlight was the Valley of the Temples near Agrigento.
The Valley of the Temples is one of the most outstanding examples of Greek architecture in the world and is one of the main attractions of Sicily. The area was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site list in 1997. The archaeological park of the Valley of the Temples is the largest archaeological site in the world, it's over 1,300 hectares. The Valley includes the remains of seven temples, all in Doric style. We saw three of them:
Temple of Juno, built in the 5th century BC.
Temple of Heracles. It is the most ancient in the Valley. It was destroyed by an earthquake and today consists of only eight columns.
Temple of Concordia, also built in the 5th century BC. It's the best preserved of the three we saw.

We stopped for coffee at Mazara del Vallo....

...and drove through Marsala before getting to Trapani late in the afternoon. This is the view from our window.
Dinner nearby, lots of seafood on the menu.
