We spent the day in Arezzo
where the highlight was a visit to the Basilica di San Francesco which has a
chapel decorated with Piero della Francesca’s cycle of “The History of the True Cross” frescoes.
First we went to the The
Piazza Grande the medieval square where the stands were still being dismantled after
last weekend’s jousting competition.
Then to the Duomo on top
of the town which has a 15th-century fresco of Mary Magdalene by Piero della
Francesca and the tomb of Pope Gregory X.
And then to the Basilica di
San Francesco.
And we wandered around Arezzo:
Back at the villa Grant, John and Doug did the first bbq and Katherine and Siobhan did salads
