We love Palermo! The city is full of Norman, Romanesque,
Gothic and Baroque churches, palaces and buildings and a North African
influence is also obvious. There are parks, piazzas, gardens, remains of at
least two city walls, open air markets and tree-lined streets. Palermo is Italy’s
fifth largest city, noted for its history, culture, art, music and food. We’re
staying right in the heart of the city looking out on a marina full of yachts.
We drove from Trapani via Segesta where we saw a Greek Temple and then went to Mondello to see where Sicilians spend a hot summer Saturday.

We’ve seen many highlights of Palermo city already from the top of a hop-on hop-off bus. We got off and walked through Mercato del Capo market and then through the centre of the
city where we came across a local beer festival. Matthew had a beer made from
NZ hops and we saw several wedding parties on our walk home.
