From Palermo to Cefalu

Drove the 70km from Palermo to Cefalu today. Despite being a small town Cefalu attracts millions of tourists each year.

Our day started at a fruit bar near our Palermo hotel. We had freshly squeezed orange juice rather than the energy drink they were selling. Then we went to a nearby cafe for a third time. They must be starting to know us by now 'cos we got greeted with a smile and a "Ciao" instead of "Buon Giorno".

Matthew wandered around the marina while Linden shopped and then it was time to depart through one of the many city gates.

And then on to Cefalu, a picturesque, medieval town notable for narrow cobbled streets with lots of shops and restaurants, a Norman Cathedral, sandy beaches and beautiful sunsets. Our hotel room overlooks one of the main streets.

We're loving the seafood in Sicily. Today's lunch was mussels, bruschetta and a trio of smoked salmon, swordfish and tuna with an orange salad.
Then we visited the Norman cathedral. Begun in 1131 it is built in a Sicilian Romanesque style.

We ended the day with another dip in the Mediterranean. The locals were even playing beach "ruugby".
